Scope

Systems physiology is an integrated discipline that combines experimental, computational, and theoretical studies to advance our understanding of the physiology of human and other living creatures. Systems physiology can be considered as systems biology with a physiology (i.e., functionally)-centered view [1].

Term 'systems physiology' is used quite rare. Instead following overlaping terms are used:

  • mathematical physiology - an interdisciplinary science that primarly investigates ways in which mathematics may be used to give insight into physiological questions.
  • physiome - is the quantitative and integrated description of the functional behavior of the physiological state of an individual or species.
